The New Siri

For 15 years, Siri conditioned us to be very careful with our requests. Sometimes the results were perfect, and for a moment you thought the future of digital assistants had arrived.

Most of the time, though, Siri did not do what you wanted. It either didn’t understand your request or didn’t know how to respond. That led to the habit of being very careful, using phrases you knew would work, and avoiding disappointment by not asking for anything too fancy.

The new Siri works like all AI chatbots, which almost always understand what you want. So it will take some time to become comfortable with requests like „Add the New York Illumination event next week to the calendar” and to actually see them work.
